Event Report

The 55th Santa Barbara Earth Day festival returned as a two-day event at Alameda Park. The festival included community educational booths, craft and vendor sales all with an environmental theme. Over 25,500 community members and visitors took advantage of this opportunity to celebrate and interact with like-minded folks. The food court included climate friendly local farm-to-table specialties including ice cream. The beer garden and live music stage also had high visitation on both days.

Running through the middle of the venue, Santa Barbara Street was again turned into a green car show, with Auto Dealers, a Ride & Drive, several municipal vehicles, electric equipment, bicycles and the ever-popular owner’s corner. This EV showcase had 8 different vehicles each day along with their drivers to give personal insight on how driving, owning and living with electric vehicle has changed their life. Several of these drivers have been driving electric vehicles for over 10 years and have experienced and overcome the EV concerns of event participants.

Our education booth provided information on vehicle options, purchase incentives, charging options and where to get signed up for the test drives.

Event Description

Earth Day in Santa Barbara is a two day event drawing in over 30,000 participants to celebrate the earth, and to learn how personal and community changes are possible and provide benefit to all. Climate change is an ever progressing regression impacting our communities across the earth. We all must work together to mitigate our impact of living now, to provide for the future.
This is one of the longest running Earth Day celebrations and puts the spotlight on climate issues both local and global, and on companies and origination's which put sustainability front and center.
Event participants will hear from speakers about options, will interact with sustainable vendors, and visit educational booths from local governmental programs and NGO's.
One big draw at the event is the Green Car Show which has several elements including ride and drive opportunities in electric vehicles, static demonstration of various makes, model and types of electric cars, trucks and equipment.
Also included is the Owners Corner in which local EV owners showcase their personal electric vehicles and discuss how owning, operating and enjoying their EV has changed their life for the better.
Locally EV adoption is continuing to grow. In the tri-county's there are over 67,876 registered zero emission vehicles and the number continues to grow with each day. Irregardless to what is being said by some elected and unelected officials, buying or leasing an electric vehicle will give one lower operating cost, a cleaner environment and help to mitigate changes to the climate.
