Event Report
In Knoxville, our nonprofit (East TN Clean Fuels Coalition) always has a booth at Knoxville's EarthFest event. This year we simply added a DEED Ride-n-Drive, and worked with the event managers to grab some key space at the event to have road access. For a somewhat dreary day, it went great! We had 42 sign-ups for people who drove one of the EVs we had to drive, and several folks drove both! The Ride-n-Drive cars included two, 2019 Nissan Leafs and one 2018 smart fortwo. About ten volunteers made it possible and managed our booth, showed their EVs to attendees (Fiat 500e and two Teslas were the most viewed static EVs), and helped corral folks over to the Ride-n-Drive.

On the left are the Ride-n-Drive EVs (Leafs and a smart fortwo) and on either side of the gravel walkway are EVs that were part of the static showcase. Event took place April 20, 2019 at the Knoxville Botanical Gardens. |

EarthFest is an annual Earth Day celebration for the greater Knoxville, TN area with several green objectives: provide family-friendly (pets included) environmental education, support our sustainable local marketplace, showcase responsible environmental leadership, and demonstrate low- to zero-waste principles.
TNCleanFuels will have several EVs available for Ride & Drive, and will also have several other vehicles on display for static learning opportunities. We will be showcasing area DCFC units, the Tennessee Workplace Charging Partnership, and developing corridor funding and partnerships to help enable driving all across TN electric!
Please note that we DO have room for some attendees to bring PEVs, but might not have room for all vehicles. EarthFest has been kind enough to move our space over closer to Wimpole Avenue where we plan to have several PEVs ready for driving, and room for perhaps 10 total static vehicles, of which we plan to have about five there. Just note that we may or may not have enough room for all vehicles in the EV display. If you plan to bring your EV and want it in the electric vehicle line-up, you need to be coming for at least the period that is 11am to 4pm.
This is EarthFest’s 20th year anniversary! To celebrate, their theme is 20/20 Vision. This theme hopes to explore ways Knoxville and EarthFest has engaged in sustainable practices for the past twenty years, as well as showcase what sustainability in the area will look like in the next 20 years. Local leaders, small businesses, and corporations are all invited to share their vision or their products that will help 2020 look greener. This event will have engaging speakers & demonstrators, a youth area, music, and food!
EarthFest will be held at the Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum on Wimpole Avenue. Parking for the event is held offsite at the Community Evangelistic Church, 2650 Boyds Bridge Pike, Knoxville, TN 37914. There will be a shuttle from the church parking lot to the event lawn throughout the day.
