Event Report
More than a hundred Bellevue College students, faculty and staff passed by our EVs display every hour in Bellevue College’s courtyard in front of the Student Union Building. It was a balmy, partly sunny spring day in the “rainy” Seattle area. This allowed many of those passing by to stop to talk with the Seattle Electric Vehicle Association drivers who had volunteered to show their EVs again this year as part of Bellevue College’s annual Earth Day observance. No one was hurrying to get out of the rain.
Particularly enjoyable was the enthusiasm for EVs which students displayed when they learned about the fact that electric motors utilize energy three to four times more efficiently than do the internal combustion engines in their current cars. They were surprised to learn their car’s engine spews 66 cents worth of the carbon fuel’s energy out the tailpipe for every $1.00 worth of gas they pump into the tank. The looks on their faces when an EV driver would show the students that the EV did not even have a tailpipe was worth the price of admission.
We had a interesting range of 17 various EV models on display. The only repetition was two Tesla Model 3s and two Mitsubishi i-MiEVs on display.
The EVs on display represented a combined total of more than 1/2 million electric miles driven and about 65 metric tons annually of CO2 which will not be generated by these vehicles and in turn, not pollute the air which the EV drivers, their families, their neighbors and all living beings across the Northwest breath. In addition, no public funds will be needed to remove the CO2 which their EVs will not generate in the first place – not to mention the $s which remain in an EV drivers pocket. This is because they will not be sending 90 cents of every dollar spent on gasoline out of the local economy to the multi-national oil companies while only needing to spend less than $3.00 for electricity to drive 100 miles.

Event Description
This is an opportunity (come rain or shine) for the general public in addition to Bellevue College students, faculty and staff to learn about today's plug-in electric vehicles from EV owners who have been actually driving PEVs for hundreds of thousands of miles. This event is part of Bellevue College's 2019 Earth Day observance activities.
Seattle Electric Vehicle Association (SEVA) members are organizing and participating in the EV display part of the observance. SEVA welcomes all EV drivers, member or not, who would like to display their EV and share their real world EV driving experiences with the event's attendees. Please register your EV if you plan to display it in order for SEVA to include your vehicle in the space Bellevue College has allocated for displaying EVs.
