Event Report
We had coverage ahead of the event in the local paper, including an interview with me. We put out a lot of pictures and publicity on Facebook through the Library's account. However, it rained the entire time on Saturday. In spite of this, the event from 10AM until 2PM, still attracted several dozen people. We had a Tesla, a Leaf, a Volt, an I3 and a new Ford Mustang Mach-E. David Andrew is still in the hospital with COVID, but his wife brought their Leaf. I had borrowed the Mach-E from the dealer in O'Fallon, IL. There was a lot of interest in this new vehicle and lots of folks got to see it inside and out! One of our visitors had owned a 1975 Citicar and brought his license plate: first electric car plate in the State of Illinois! In addition, And two newspaper reporters showed up and the event will be in both papers again this week. Sunday was sunny and mild. I wish we could have had a rain date, because we could have had 3 times as many visitors. Looking forward to another Drive Electric Day event this fall.
photo by: Frank Buckingham DVM All-day rain couldn't dampen enthusiasm for electric cars on Saturday at the Case-Halstead Library's third annual Drive Electric event. Volunteers from over 60 miles away brought their vehicles. We borrowed a new Ford Mach-E for the event. (Pictured, Chevy Volt, Tesla 3, Nissan Leaf, BMW I3.) Looking forward to better weather for our next event. |
Event Description
Welcome to our annual Drive Electric Earth Day event here
in Carlyle Illinois! Located a few blocks from Carlyle Lake, in
beautiful Carlyle Illinois. The Case-Halstead Public Library is once
again hosting. We will have plenty of cars to see and refreshments as
well. Restrooms are available in the Library. Please bring your questions and visit with happy and enthusiastic
plug-in car owners ready to tell you about their "ride". We will be
wearing masks and practicing social distancing as required by health department rules and Library policy effective on that date.
The
event starts at 10AM in the library parking lot. Our modern and
beautifully designed library building will be open for a tour if you
like. There is one Level 2 charger and we have several extra wall
outlets if anyone needs those. We hope to have cars from several manufacturers
scheduled to appear so you can compare and learn. This is our fourth
year and it has always had a great turn out. Let's see you there!
