Event Report

Our area was hit hard by a heavy snow storm the Tuesday prior to our event, leaving 30,000 households without power in our area, well into Earth Day. This circumstance created cancelations for attendees, vendors and EV owners. That being said, we still had a great turn out of about 200 people and 17 Electric Vehicles and E-Bikes. We had the grill going for hot dogs, burgers, veggie burgers, chips and Gilligan's Ice cream. Our Visitor Center was home to the tables for SUNY Morrisville Educators for Renewable Energy and Environmental Ed programs, as well as a professor with live reptiles including a milk snake and gecko. Intelligent Green Solutions, Livingston Energy Group, Chenango County Planning Dept. all had info and handouts. We had a raffle table with 17 great prizes such as a drone, microscope kit, bird quilt, and a candy basket. Local groups included the Mid-York Mycological Society, Chenango Bird Club, Bullthistle Hiking Club, Wheels in Time Diecast museum, Knapp Knoll Woodworks, Boise's Bees, Ginny Marris Artist. Jenni's Music offered musical play for the kids and our Educator offered pressed flower/leaf bookmark making for kids. We did partner with BEEKMAN 1802 for a Goat milk soap giveaway and received a Kindness Grant to cover the cost of our Veggie Plant giveaway as well. Kids were able to pick their favorite plants to take home and grow and the parents got to take a bar of this luxurious natural soap, it was a big hit!
