Event Report
Kingman’s FREE Drive Electric Earth Day event featured the most diverse range of electric vehicles on display at any of the 200 Drive Electric nation-wide events. Tourists arriving at Kingman's Route 66 Visitor Center were able to meet and talk with real-world drivers who advocate adopting EV technology. Everyone coming to the Visitor Center on the day of the event were also given FREE admission to the Historic EV Foundation's (HEVF) Route 66 EV Museum.
The event ended with a flourish just before 2:00 p.m. when the Foundation unveiled its latest historically significant EV acquisition, an extremely rare 2008 Tesla Roadster (# 480). Tesla sold a total of approximately 2,450 of these pioneering EVs. The Tesla owners who happened to be charging their EVs at the newly installed Superchargers in the Visitor Center's parking lot received an unexpected bonus when they were invited to attend the Roadster's unveiling in the Museum.
The Museum’s display of about 25 EVs represents only a quarter of HEVF's world’s largest collection of historically significant EVs:
- 1930 Detroit Electric,
- rare 2002 Toyota RAV4 EV,
- a record setting EV racer,
- Willie Nelson’s Rolls style golf cart
- and more.
In addition to the EVs listed below under Expected Display Vehicles, attendees will be able to view up close and personal these EVs in HEVF's collection.
There was also a presentation about the Aptera solar powered electric car currently in development.
The Historic Electric Vehicle Foundation, the Route 66 Electric Vehicle Association Chapter and the City of Kingman Office of Tourism partnered to organize this event to celebrate the benefits of electrified transportation at the Route 66 EV Museum for the benefit of electric vehicle consumers and potential EV buyers from Kingman, Phoenix, Tucson, Los Vegas and all areas of Arizona.

Event Description
Kingman's COVID-19 response make the wearing of a mask optional, but participants should observe social distancing according to the Mohave County Health Department's Coronavirus Response Hub. The guidelines at the top of this event's description reflect the CDC's national guidelines in cases where there are none locally.
