Event Report
Every year, the Ventura County General Services Agency (GSA) conducts an Earth Day tour of the Government Center Campus, highlighting the county’s strides in sustainable infrastructure. Over 160 students from Hueneme Elementary School District as well as students from the Oxnard High School Green Tech Academy, a local high school program preparing students to be leaders in environmental professions, attended the event. Also in attendance were county employees, members of the public, and county officials, including District Attorney, Erik Nasarenko.
The VCREA team showcased 3 different EV models from the County GSA fleet: 2020 Chevrolet Bolt, Chevrolet Volt, and Chrysler Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid Minivan. EV Coach, Nancy Clarin, explained the history of EVs, driver and environmental benefits, and touched on the availability of rebates and incentives for EV purchases. Questions from the audience were primarily on range, and electrical infrastructure needed for home improvements. The audience was also directed to find more resources on the Plug-in-America website.
At the end of the tour, the students and tour participants were given “goodie bags” which included additional EV informational graphics and VCREA EV-related swag.
