Event Report
Boku Café is a popular vegan restaurant and electric vehicle charging hub in Ojai, featuring multiple Tesla and Electrify America chargers. This year, we collaborated with EV Advocates of Ventura County and the owners of Boku Café to put on an EV showcase. Our EV Display at Boku Superfoods was our only in-person DEED event this year that was independent of another organization’s Earth Day event. Still, we had a great turnout from individuals that were at Boku Superfoods to grab a bite, charge their electric vehicles, or learned about the event through our marketing efforts.
Approximately 24 electric vehicles were on display, representing at least 15 different models. Several other EVs were at Boku Café, although not part of the display. Attendees flocked toward the polished rows of EVs and were enthusiastic to learn from the EV owners.
VCREA’s interactive booth was stocked with EV information and brochures, a laptop featuring virtual EV ride and drives, as well as a prize wheel to attract kids and their parents. More than 50 individuals participated in our booth game and several more stopped by just to have their EV questions answered. Some of the most common questions revolved around affordability, availability at dealerships, and upcoming models. Booth visitors were encouraged to speak to an EV owner from a display, explaining that they are often a more reliable source of information than dealership employees. Attendees especially enjoyed browsing the EV display with the Plug-in America EV Guide.

Event Description
VCREA presents...
EV Show at Café BōKU
Are you thinking about buying an electric vehicle but feel like you don’t have enough information to decide? Do you have even a teeniest, tiniest interest in EV technology and want to learn more? Maybe you just want to check out some cool electric cars! Whatever your interest level, the Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance (VCREA) invites you to join us and the EV Advocates of Ventura County at Café BōKU Superfood for an electric vehicle show.
You'll get a chance to have all your EV-related questions answered and meet real EV owners many of whom have years of EV experience. Stop by and check out our informational booths for EV buying guides and information on rebates and how to get a car charger installed at your home or place of business. Spin the wheel for a chance to win cool prizes like Evie McWheelie coloring pages, stickers, water canteens, pizza, and more!
Best of all, you can purchase Boku Superfoods products in the store and recharge yourself with healthy beverages and foods at the Café BōKU.
In conjunction with this event, the EV Advocates of Ventura County will be holding their monthly meeting. This is a diverse group of volunteers and primarily Ventura County residents who drive EV’s and participate in advocacy, education, and outreach programs for electric vehicles. Join us to participate in making positive change for our community and environment.
Café BōKU Superfood is located in the old Ford dealership at the west entrance to Ojai and is making the transition to become a sustainable transportation center by hosting both a Tesla Supercharger and Electrify America EV Charging Station.
