Day: | Saturday, April 16, 2022 NOTE: this event has already happened, find current-year events on the Attend page. |
Time: | 9:00 - 11:30 am EDT |
Location: | Deep River Elementary School 12 River Street Deep River, CT 064187 |
Event Report
We thank all who were able to come to our iconic Elementary School, centrally located near downtown Deep River!
An impressive array of current-production EV's were brought by owners who were eager to discuss with visitors the benefits and any idiosyncrasy of their particual model. i
Members of the Deep River Sustainable Committee, which is sponsoring the event, also attended to share their activities designed to enhance Deep River's ecological and cultural well-being. These include an initiative around food scraps recycling, residential lawn care recommendations, and, yes, electric vehicle chargers for town and private properties.
Sierra club was present with a table full of useful information -- EV-specific handouts, including the Connecticut CHEAPR rebate program, as well as documents addressing climate change in genenral .
The Sustainable Committee has been engaging with Elementary School teachers to raise awareness around electric vehicles and their gentler impact on the environment. At this event we demonstrated to students (and parents!) lab equipment that that shows the principles of an EV being charged with Solar coupled with battery storage. This kit will be a permament part of the school's Maker Lab going forward, along with lesson plans to guide students in their discovery process.

Event Description
Come to our iconic Elementary School, centrally located near downtown Deep River!

These include an initiative around food scraps recycling, residential lawn care recommendations, and, yes, electric vehicle chargers for town and private properties.
We are also working with the Elementary School students to raise awareness around electric vehicles and their gentler impact on the environment. At this event we will demonstrate to students (and older people who are still student-at-heart!) lab equipment that that shows the principles of an EV being charged with Solar coupled with battery storage.
Drive Electric Earth Day is presented by Plug In America, the Electric Vehicle Association, the Sierra Club, Wells Fargo, and EVHybridNoire.
