Event Report
Earth Day Celebration and EV Show at Shell Point, Tribby Art Center, April 22, 2022, 9 to 1, featured
· ten tables with wonderful displays from local environmental organizations and volunteers to discuss their work. Thanks to Calusa Waterkeepers, Citizens Climate Lobby, Climate Reality Project, CROW including a visit from a live Gopher Tortoise and Great Horned Owl, Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge, Future Forestry, Keep Lee County Beautiful, RESET Center, Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, and Shell Point volunteers.
· ten electric cars, including different models of Tesla, a Nissan Leaf, a Ford Focus Electric, a Smart fortwo Electric Drive cabrio, a Rav4, and two Toyota plugged-in hybrids, and four electric bikes (thanks to Pedego of Fort Myers). We were grateful to the EV owners who responded to our outreach at Shell Point and through SWFL EV owners facebook page and the National Drive Electric America network and came to show their EVs and talk about their experience with 20-30 people and sometimes give one or two test rides as well. Pedago gave 8 test rides and spoke with several dozen people in addition.
· Andrea DeCostole from Tesla Naples and Ellie Hidalgo from Tesla Fort Myers giving a slideshow presentation and answering questions about the history and vision of Tesla, its EVs and even solar tiles. We also had a short slideshow about the environmental benefit of EVs made by our Green Team.
· tasty plant-based food and drink provided by the Green Cup Café caterers, who brought various teas, waters in cans, nachos, vegan lobster salad, and ssndwiches, all served on compostable bamboo plates and cups.
