Event Report
Saturday morning, April 22, was a beautiful morning for our first Earth Day Event. The Farmer's Market was open for the first time and our location was one block west of their booths. We were hoping for a good turnout and for people attending the market to stop in and that is exactly what happened. Our main sponsors and organizers for the event were Earth Charter Indiana and Citizens Climate Lobby of Southern Indiana. We had several participants including Evolve Ky, who brought two electric vehicles who answered questions and gave rides to anyone interested in learning more about EV's. Also participating were Indiana University Southeast GREENadiers, New Albany High School Anchor Club, Indiana Master Gardeners, Girl Scout Troop 1685 and the Stein Law Office. Visitors were given a free tree that was donated by Indiana House Representative Ed Clere. They were also able to walk the New Albany Tree Trail and learn facts about the importance of trees to create a healthy environment. There were games that children could play to learn more about trees, about how to conserve energy, alternative energy, and recycling. It was a wonderful day and hopefully we will do it again next year.
