Event Report
This year, VCREA was invited to participate in the annual Thousand Oaks Arbor Earth Day celebration at the Thousand Oaks Community Center. VCREA's participation was threefold, including an engaging and interactive booth, a static EV display, and a kid-friendly EV painting station. The booth was fully stocked with comprehensive EV information and brochures and featured virtual EV ride and drives on iPads. An alluring prize wheel aimed at attracting kids and their parents increased engagement. More than 100 individuals enthusiastically participated in our booth's EV-related game, while several more stopped by to have their EV-related queries answered. Some of the most common questions that arose were related to rebates and vehicle range.
In partnership with Mixteco Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP), VCREA organized a unique and memorable EV painting experience for the public. Kids and adults alike got a chance to express their artistic creativity by painting one Chevy Bolt and one PHEV Chrysler Pacifica with washable paints.
VCREA's participation in this event was made possible by the support and assistance of County of Ventura staff, as well as several dedicated high school volunteers who provided their help with set-up, supervising the painting activity, and clean-up. We are also grateful to the City of Thousand Oaks for hosting this exceptional community event.

Arbor Earth Day Celebration
Saturday, April 15th

Thousand Oaks Community Center (next to T.O. High School)
2525 N. Moorpark Rd., Thousand Oaks
The City’s annual Arbor Earth Day Celebration returns to Thousand Oaks Community Center Park to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day in one combined event. This years event will include an electric vehicle display area where the public can see and ask questions about various EV models, educational workshops on drip irrigation installation, caring for landscaping in drought, water-wise ground covers, as well as a bicycle safety course & helmet giveaway, bicycle donation/collection, kids activities & bounce house, compost and plant giveaways, raffles, live music, and more!
Come celebrate Arbor Earth Day at the Thousand Oaks Community Center on April 15th, 2023. This FREE family event will include:
- Electric vehicles (EVs)
- Environmental Workshops/presentations
- Bicycle safety course and instructio
- Bicycle donation/collection for underserved youth (hosted by Conejo Rec & Park District)
- Kids Crafts, games, and bounce house
- Compost and plant giveaways
- Raffle
- Live music
The festivities begin at 9:00 am in the park area and parking lot of the Thousand Oaks Community Center at 2525 N. Moorpark Road.
