Event Report

For the second year at this location, the EV Community came together to hold an EV Showcase and Educational component for the Thousand Oaks Arbor Day / Earth Day Festival.

Lined up beneath the solar canopy there were a variety of vehicles with their owners who served as ambassadors to provide the straight scoop to event participants. Vehicles included a Rivian RT1, Kia Niro, Chevy Volt, 2 Lucid Airs, 5 Chevy Bolts, 3 Tesla Model 3s, 2 Kia EV6s, Tesla Model S, Ford Lighting F-150, Tesla Model Y, Hyundai Ionic 5, Mercedes Benz B-Class and a Chrysler Pacifica.

The EV Advocates of  Ventura County educational booth provided materials on vehicle options, available rebates, charging tips and locations and invited guests to check out the showcase and interact with the owners.

Event Description

Electric Vehicles are coming on strong with more options being offered every day in our region. Currently there are over 75 All Electric and 36 Plug-in Hybrids available for purchase, ranging in price after incentives from $16,100 to a few that are over $125,000. These sedans, Crossovers, Vans, SUVs and Trucks have ranges for hybrids of 15 to 80 miles and for all electric vehicles ranges of 100 to 520 miles. There are also many options to purchase a used EV, some of which also have incentives up to $8,000.

Additionally, the old range anxiety issues are being addressed in our region with more and more Electric Vehicle Charging locations coming online. Not counting residential chargers there are now almost 900 places to get a charge in Ventura County.

Come to our educational booth to learn about vehicle options, purchase incentives, take a virtual test drive, explore charging locations and get your questions answered by EV experts. Our members have been driving electric vehicles for many years, have made cross country EV trips and can provide personal insight on how living with an EV has changed their lives.

Our Electric Vehicle Showcase will allow you to see a variety of vehicles and talk to their owners. Last year we had a lineup of 17 vehicles and this year plan on showing even more.

If you have an Electric Vehicle, please volunteer and join us to show your car, to interact with event participants and help spread word about the many benefits of driving electric.
