Event Report
Partner Appalachian Electric Cooperative (AEC) did a great job setting up the location - Carson-Newman University - and giveaway and snacks tents, and handling some local promotion, Drive Electric TN and the Knoxville EV Association brought 10 EVs to join AEC's wrapped Chevy Bolt. Thanks much to the AEC crew for their work! The Ford F150 Lightning and the Tesla Model 3s and Y were far and away the largest attraction with the Lightning counting for over half of our rides or drives. Those vehicles in addition to a Ford Mustang Mach-E First Edition were the EVs available for rides or drives. This was the first Ride & Drive EVER in Jefferson County and it was a good start! Now the staff at AEC knows how to handle the specifics of registration and completion of waivers for rides and drives, DET, KEVA, and AEC are now better prepared for future planning for more events. The Grainger County Tomato Festival, with on the order of 10,000 people visiting in a day, is next up in our targets!

Event Description
Appalachian Electric Cooperative (AEC) is partnering with Drive Electric TN, and the Knoxville EV Association to bring an EV Showcase and Ride & Drive to Jefferson City and the entire AEC service territory in Jefferson, Grainger, and Hamblen Counties! Carson Newman University is serving as event host to kick off this opportunity to showcase numerous EVs to area citizens that want to learn more about driving electric.
We will be in the parking lot directly behind the Tarr Music Building! You can enter the parking lot off of either Ken Sparks Way or Swann Avenue. Click here for a Google maps link that shows the Music Building and the parking lot.
The event will take place at Carson Newman University from 3-7pm ET on April 15, 2023. We will have a wide variety of EVs to let you learn about their capabilities, and will be able to discuss current and coming area charging infrastructure, and the multiple projects currently in progress that could allow local citizens and businesses to try out EVs at low or no cost. A Ford Lightning will be one of the vehicles available for you to see and learn about that day. Plan to come join us!
