Event Report

HUGE shout out to Bill Stearns, who exhibited his Hyundai Ioniq 5... with a pod coffee maker plugged in. He also brought a speaker for us to use for music/announcements (also plugged in to his car). He helped greet and sign in exhibitors, and offered them "Ask Me" buttons and vehicle spec sheets from his own stash. I will definitely be stealing that idea for future events!

All exhibitors had a great time, as did the visitors I spoke to. Many exhibitors commented that people are getting more knowledgeable about EVs, and many visitors who approached them were considering purchasing or leasing one. Some wondered how we could get younger people involved, and speculated that maybe they're out of budget for this demographic. But, I did see several families with kids attend.

Salem Alliance For the Environment (SAFE) sponsored this event, provided volunteers, and had a table. Next year I intend to work with the Salem High School Automotive Department as well.

Unusual vehicles included:
  •  A 1960 Heinkel Kabine conversion. This was at the Salem/Beverly 2023 NDEW Event and is always a draw!
  • Two unicycles (apparently these are different than OneWheels; one exhibitor told me his unicycle is his main form of transportation)
  • A custom-built e-trike
  • Custom... dirt bike? Motocross thing? Built or purchased by a former Salem High School Automotive student
  • Several e-bikes and e-cargo bikes
  • Electric lawn and yard equipment
