Event Report

Henry County REMC hosted the"Energize & Electrify" Electric Vehicle Car Show on April 20, 2024. The event had 62 attendees and showcased 20 EVs from various manufacturers like Tesla, Ford, Chevy, and others. Several partners and sponsors supported the event, including local businesses like Clancy's Car Wash, Big O Tires, Primo, Broad Street Blends, Flynn's Guttering, Jackson's Good Wood, The Press, Weenie World, Advance Auto, Auto Zone, O'Riley Auto Parts, and Dennis Equipment. Indiana's Electric Cooperatives out of Indianapolis was also a sponsor. 

In addition to the EV showcase, the event featured two presentations. The first was on whole-home electrification by John Vann, PhD. The second was a general information presentation about EVs by Linda Margison of Hoosier Energy. There were baked goods for sale from the Boujie Baker and bucket truck rides from Henry County REMC. It was promoted through newspapers, social media, flyers, and employee communications.

Feedback from EV owners who participated was overall positive. They appreciated the opportunity to share their EV experiences and promote EVs in a friendly atmosphere. Attendees enjoyed seeing the variety of EVs, the educational content, and activities like bucket truck rides. Strong interest was expressed in similar future events.

The event allowed Henry County REMC to directly engage with the local EV community, understand their needs, and pave the way for cooperative utility-EV owner relationships as EV adoption grows.
