Event Report

We had a small turnout of vehicles, just 4 - but it seems like 1 in 3 or 4 cars in the shopping center's lot were EVs. The Y model was mostly ignored, our model 3 got more attention - but our 2014 Ford Focus EV got a the most attention because of the graphic board we placed under the hood. It showed a breakdown of milage, range and expenses between the EV model and the gas powered model which convinces most people that the fear mongering about costs was not correct.

This was the 4th year we have held this event as part of the Lake Hills Earth Day Celebration, and it has played a part in the transformation of the area becoming a focus of the EV revolution.

Event Description

This event is a mix of things we can do to foster ecological thinking. From bicycles to shrubbery we showcase simple ways to reduce our footprint gently, easily without high cost or loss of comfort. EVs are an important part of that and people are still shocked to hear the economic advantages of driving an EV. Our neighborhood is concerned with the problems of climate change and our local impact, and tries every year to showcase how to reduce our impact without significant cutbacks and expense. The local library in the center is always a valued partner and neighbors bring out skills for crafts (buttonmaking, bird and squirrel feeders and plants), landscaping ideas to lower water use and more.
