Event Report
On April 19th over 4,000 participants gathered in the Ventura’s Plaza Park to celebrate Earth Day at an event organized by the City of Ventura and the Merito Foundation. Participants were able to browse the 55 booths for environmental program information, sustainable local crafts and products. Throughout the day, after the opening remarks and a Chumash blessing, music from local bands and a presentation by the mayor kept everyone enthralled.
Continuing a long-standing tradition, the celebration included an Electric Vehicle Showcase coordinated by the EV Advocates of Ventura County. This year the gathering of 32 vehicles ranged from a 1916 Rauch & Lange to a 2025 Cadillac Optiq, and included Electric Vespas, a Meaving motorcycle, and assorted sedans, SUVs and pickups. The EV Advocates members mingled with participants and each other to talk about the vehicles, charging and how our environment has improved by driving electric.
Local dealerships Vinfast and Oxnard Team Nissan brought display vehicles.
