The Earth Day event held on April 22, 2025, at the River Road African American Museum in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, featured a diverse lineup of speakers and cultural activities focused on environmental stewardship and community healing. The event took place at the historic Booker T. Washington Rosenwald School, located at 511 Williams Street.

Featured Speakers and Participants

United Houma Nation and Atakapa-Ishak Nation: Representatives from these Indigenous nations opened the event with a Land Acknowledgment and shared insights on traditional ecological knowledge and Indigenous stewardship of the Earth.

Baba Bill Summers and Mama Jamilah Peters Muhammad: They led a libation ceremony honoring ancestors. Mama Jamilah also facilitated a community drum circle, fostering unity and reflection. 

Morpheus Blue: Concluded the event with a musical performance, celebrating the day’s themes through art.

Additional Activities

The event also featured educational exhibits on electric vehicles, with participation from Louisiana Clean Fuels and Rural Roots Louisiana, who discussed sustainable transportation and environmental conservation. Attendees enjoyed food trucks and SnoBalls, adding a festive atmosphere to the day’s proceedings.
