Event Report

PNM’s Clean Car Concourse didn’t just shine at the 3rd Annual Earth Day Festival — it made a statement.
In a year when conversations about clean energy can feel abstract or overly technical, the Concourse delivered something far more compelling: 3,000 people experiencing the electric future with their own hands.

A Showcase That Proved the Future Isn’t Coming — It’s Parked Right Here
What made the Concourse so powerful wasn’t just the 50+ electric vehicles lined up like a glimpse into tomorrow. It was the fact that nearly all of them belonged to everyday New Mexicans — people who drive these cars to work, to school, to the grocery store. People who have collectively logged over 1 million electric miles on our roads. That’s not theory. That’s lived experience.

And they didn’t come to brag. They came to show what’s possible.

Two EV owners hitched up their campers to prove that electric power isn’t just for city commutes — it’s for the open road, the mountains, the desert, and every adventure in between. APS rolled in with a fully electric school bus, a bright yellow reminder that clean transportation isn’t just for adults with techy hobbies. It’s for kids. It’s for communities. It’s for the future we’re building right now.

The eBike Surge
Meanwhile, the eBike corner was buzzing — literally and figuratively. Fat Tire Cycles, Kickstand Cycles, and Sport Systems brought dozens of models and delivered over 100 test rides. If the EVs showed what’s possible on four wheels, the eBikes showed what’s possible on two: freedom, fun, and a surprisingly fast way to rethink daily transportation.

A Celebration of Creativity and Commitment
The Concourse wasn’t just educational — it was joyful. It was quirky. It was human. Awards for Best Frunk Decorations, Best Outdoor Rig, Most Miles Driven, and People’s Choice turned the showcase into a celebration of personality and pride. Because sustainability isn’t just a policy goal. It’s a culture.

PNM Programs That Powered the Conversation
Festivalgoers didn’t just look at EVs — they learned how to make them part of their lives. PNM experts were on hand to demystify programs like Transportation Electrification, Time of Day, Energy Efficiency, and Grid Modernization. These aren’t abstract initiatives. They’re practical tools that help New Mexicans save money, reduce emissions, and plug into a cleaner grid.

Capturing the Moment
A special shout‑out goes to Journey Home Media, whose photo and video coverage didn’t just document the event — it elevated it. Their work captured the energy, the faces, the conversations, and the spark of possibility that defined the day.

A Community Effort Worth Celebrating
Events like this don’t happen by accident. They happen because organizations care enough to make them happen. Special thanks goes to Sunny 505, the Sierra Club Rio Grande Chapter, 350 NM, and the City of Albuquerque for creating a space where curiosity, community, and climate action could meet.

The Clean Car Concourse wasn’t just a festival attraction. It was a reminder that the clean‑energy transition isn’t something we’re waiting for. It’s something we’re driving — one EV, one eBike, one conversation at a time.
