Event Report
We had a nice turnout despite the cool weather with 4 different dealers (two of which, Garber Chevrolet and Showcase Mitsubishi Bay City, staying for the entire event to talk about their offerings) and 8 owners who showed off and explained what it was like to own an EV.
One of the EV owners drove up from Detroit (a two hour drive) who not only did a great job of presenting his 150K mile Model 3 but also submitted a review of the event to an international EV organization in Europe! It can be seen at: https://electromobilitate.com/deem-event-in-midland-michigan-about-fsd-and-dealer-participation/
And kudos to the City of Midland Dial-a-Ride manager, Rodney Merillat, who brought and stayed with one of their 3 EV Ford Transit conversion "buses" (out of a total of 18) to the event.
All in all, it was a great get-together for this yearly Earth Day event (EarthActionExpo.org), the 20th that has been held in Midland, Michigan! Hopefully next year, we will have even more owners and dealers showing up and that the march to EV adoption continues to grow.

Event Description
The Earth Action Expo is an annual event organized by the Midland Section of the American Chemical Society and the Dow High School Go Green Club, with sponsorships from other Community Organizations. The 2026 theme is “Into the Woods with Chemistry", but activities and speakers will also address many other environmental topics, including green science, recycling, solar power and electric vehicles. The event is free and family-friendly with many things to see and 'hands on' activities for all ages. There will also be food trucks selling a variety of eats and drinks. Speakers throughout the event will address various energy, nature and climate-related topics. Attendance is free and so is parking.
The Expo will be held rain or shine, with most activities indoors. An outdoor area will be sectioned off for EV owners and dealers to exhibit and talk about their vehicles. Our plan is to feature a variety of models and manufacturers, displayed in a special section in front and on the side of the school (with duplicates close by in the parking lot). To that end, please register through the DEEM website so we know you are coming and what vehicle you are bringing. ALSO, please contact Gina at: [email protected] , who will plan car placement and send you detailed information ahead of time.
Sponsors include Midland Recyclers, the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE) and Midland Center for the Arts. More information is available on the website: https://earthactionexpo.org/
