Event Report
DEEM Lacey, Washington April 8, 2026
The Electric Vehicle Group of the Thurston Climate Action Team (TCAT) sponsored an EV show under the Drive Electric Earth Month umbrella on April 8, 2026.
This show was organized in conjunction with the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce Green Business Awards, coordinated with TCAT by Alyssa Jones Wood, the Tumwater Sustainability Manager. We were the “outdoor” attraction for attendees of this event, which drew approximately 150 people.
We attempted to highlight commercial EVs, but our volunteers brought our own vehicles, so we had a nice mix of commercial, municipal, and passenger vehicles.
Several of the attendees at the Green Business Awards brought electric vehicles, and we invited them to park in the EV area to add variety to the show. All combined, both registered participants and “people who parked their EVs in the show area” we had the following mix of EVs:
Commercial:
· Rizon 14’ Box Truck, from Range Zero, Fife
· Workhorse Step Van, from Range Zero, Fife
· Chevy Brightdrop Van, Tony Nisam, Orange EV, Seattle
· Chevy Silverado EV, Titus-Will Chevrolet, Olympia
· Ford F-150 Lightning, City of Lacey, Washington
· Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus, Intercity Transit
· Zero Police Motorcycle, Range Zero, Fife
· Ford Mach-E Sales and Support vehicle, Capital Sheet Metal
· Nissan Leaf Sales and Support Vehicle, Sunset Air
Municipal Passenger Vehicles
· Chevy Bolt, Lacey, Washington
· Chevy Bolt, Olympia, Washington
Personal Vehicles of Volunteers and Attendees
· Rivian R1T
· Kia EV6 (2)
· Kia Niro
· Chevy Bolt
· Polestar 2
· Subaru Solterra
· E-bike with portable charge unit: Mark Harris
· Hyundai Ioniq 5
· Ford Fusion PHEV

1) Public attendance was very sparse; the combination of limited promotion outside of DEEM channels (despite our efforts locally), and the mid-day, mid-week time were issues.
2) The vendors (Range Zero, Orange, Titus-Will) were enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We were glad to have them. They were trying to make connections for future sales, but were far more engaged in education than marketing.
3) Marketing to fleet managers of local businesses should have been undertaken; these businesses may have had attendees at the Chamber event inside, but those attendees were not the fleet managers for those businesses.
