Event Report
Our Silicon Valley EVA Chapter was invited by the Cupertino Parks and Recreation departmen to display 7 EVs at this Earth Day event and have an information booth.
Our most popular vehicle was the 1953 Studebaker Hot Rod EV conversion.
The conversion of this Classic Car was done entirely by our Chapter Vice President George Stuckert.
Another popular vehicle was the Kia EV6 owned by our Chapter President Jerry Pohorsky.
The EV6 has an adapter that plugs into the J1772 charging port and supplies up to 1900 Watts of 120 VAC power.
Our Chapter Treasurer Ben White used this adapter to power his electric coffee pot and he brewed a pot of coffee as a demonstration.
Another appliance that was connected to the 120 VAC adapter was an oscillating fan which is shown in some of the pictures at our photo link below.
This is a V2L device (Vehicle to Load) that reportedly can power a mid-sized refrigerator for a week.
While we only had a small fraction of the event attendees stop by our info booth, we had high quality conversations, answered their questions and shared our experience with driving our electric vehicles. We have participated in this annual event for several years now.
