The EVA Ohio Greater Cleveland Team participated in the 2026 Kent State Earth Day events on Wednesday, April 22 at Risman plaza from 11am to 6pm. During the Earth Fest tabling event from 11 to 2pm, EVA members interacted with and talked with 800 participants in attendance about the advantages of driving electric and provided materials about EVs to event participants. From 4pm to 6pm EVA Ohio Greater Cleveland hosted an EV showcase with nine EVs on display. Ron Marhofer Chevrolet of Stow, OH provided new 2026 Bolt and Equinox EVs for display. Kent State contributed two EVs to the showcase. One of its fleet of all electric, Ford eTransit Maintenance vans was on display. The electric vans replaced gasoline powered vehicles saving the university thousands of dollars each year. The second Kent State EV on display was the experimental zero-emissions golf cart from Dr. Yanhai Du's sustainability lab in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering. The EV is equipped with solar panels and batteries, but will also be equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell. Members of EVA Ohio Greater Cleveland also displayed several of their consumer EVs. Included in the line up were a Ford Mach-E, Rivian R1S, Cadillac Lyriq, Tesla Model S, and BMW i3.
