Event Report

On March 25, 2026, E-Mobility Fellowship Pipeline Program (EFPP) fellows Ian Adams, Ashanti Mitchell, and Jayques Nelson hosted a fellow-led event at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. The event was designed to advance two primary objectives: increasing awareness of the E-Mobility Fellowship Pipeline Program among the Claflin student body and gathering community data in support of the fellows' capstone research.

The event drew 180 attendees, reflecting strong student interest and effective on-campus promotion by the fellows. Participants engaged with fellows directly, exploring topics related to electric vehicles, clean transportation, and the career opportunities available through EFPP. The fellows used the event to administer their landscape assessment, collecting responses that will inform their capstone findings on e-mobility awareness and access within the Claflin community.

The turnout and level of engagement at Claflin demonstrate the effectiveness of peer-led outreach as a strategy for both program recruitment and community research. Fellows Ian Adams, Ashanti Mitchell, and Jayques Nelson executed the event with professionalism and purpose, representing EFPP and EVHybridNoire on their campus.

Event Description

As part of the 2025–2026 E-Mobility Fellowship, Claflin University students are leading a strategic initiative to evaluate campus readiness and interest in electric transportation. In a formal partnership with Davis Toyota of Orangeburg, this event features a live vehicle demonstration designed to demystify EV technology for the student body.

The primary objective of this showcase is to gather qualitative data on student perceptions of Electric Vehicles—specifically focusing on barriers to adoption, financial feasibility for Gen-Z, and the role of HBCUs in the green energy transition. By connecting students with industry-leading technology, we aim to foster a dialogue that moves beyond the classroom and into the sustainable infrastructure of our community.
