23 EVs, One Epic Day: April Rally 2026 Recap

Valley of the Sun Electric Vehicle Association’s April Rally 2026, the 3rd Annual Four Peaks Run, delivered another unforgettable all-electric adventure into Arizona’s rugged backcountry. EV owners and enthusiasts gathered in Fountain Hills—traveling from across the state, including Waddell, Prescott, Maricopa, and Tucson—to kick off the day before heading out on both off-road and on-road routes.

A group of 12 vehicles took on the Four Peaks off-road route, including the Rivian R1S and R1T, Ford F-150 Lightning, Tesla Cybertruck, Chevrolet Silverado EV, and even a Subaru Solterra—proving that electric vehicles of all types are ready for adventure. Climbing to elevations near 5,800 feet, the group experienced sweeping desert views, mountain terrain, and a true test of EV capability beyond the pavement.

At the same time, 11 EVs followed an on-road route to Payson, where the group wrapped up their drive with a casual lunch at Mackey’s Grill, enjoying great food and conversation in the cool mountain air.

In total, 23 electric vehicles and 36 participants took part in the day’s activities, creating a strong sense of community and shared excitement. From first-time participants to seasoned EV owners, the event highlighted the versatility, performance, and real-world capability of electric vehicles across a variety of driving conditions.

Event Description

Join the Valley of the Sun Electric Vehicle Association and DRIVE Electric Arizona for the 3rd Annual Four Peaks Run on Sunday, April 12, 2026—an all-electric adventure through one of Arizona’s most scenic backcountry routes.

We’ll kick off the morning with a meetup at 8:00 am at Rainbow Donuts (17224 E Shea Blvd, Fountain Hills, AZ 85268), giving everyone time to connect before departure. At 9:00 am sharp, our all-electric 4x4 group will head out to traverse Four Peaks Road, climbing to approximately 5,800 feet before descending toward Roosevelt Lake and returning.

This route follows a maintained Forest Service road, but high-clearance vehicles are required. Please come prepared with plenty of water, snacks, and a packed lunch.

For those with on-road vehicles, a separate caravan will depart at 9:00 am and head up the Beeline Highway to Payson. The group will make a charging stop at the Circle K chargers in Payson before continuing on to Macky’s Grill for a relaxed group lunch.

If you have a GMRS radio, bring it along fully charged to help with group communication, on or off the road!

Whether you’re tackling the trail or cruising the highway, this is a great opportunity to connect with fellow EV owners and experience Arizona’s landscapes in a whole new way—powered entirely by electricity.
