Event Report
On April 8, 2026, EFPP fellows John Squier and Latasha Bett represented the E-Mobility Fellowship Pipeline Program at the UNC Pembroke career fair in Pembroke, North Carolina. The event was designed to advance two primary objectives: increasing awareness of EFPP and clean transportation career pathways among the UNCP student body and gathering community data in support of the fellows' capstone research.
The fellows set up an EVHybridNoire and EFPP information booth within the career fair, engaging approximately 50 attendees across a range of academic disciplines. The career fair setting provided a high-traffic environment for peer-to-peer outreach, giving John and Latasha the opportunity to connect with students who may not have previously considered e-mobility as a career pathway. Fellows shared information about the fellowship, discussed the growing demand for diverse talent in the clean transportation sector, and encouraged interested students to apply for the upcoming cohort.
In addition to fellowship promotion, fellows administered their landscape assessment during the event, collecting responses that will inform their capstone findings on e-mobility awareness and access within the UNCP community. The data gathered contributes to a broader institutional picture of how students at HBCUs and HSIs perceive and interact with electric transportation.
